Eight (8) people have been arrested by the Springfield Police Department and charged with a variety of drug related offenses, the result of actions taken over a three (3) day period by the Springfield Police Department’s Pro-Active Crime Unit and Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team.
Officers also confiscated a variety of illegal drugs, various drug equipment including scales, over $1,800 cash and several weapons. Search warrants were issued for seven locations where suspected drug activity was occurring and were executed between 05-12-10 and 05-14-10. One arrest is still pending under one of the search warrants where items were recovered.
“This action culminates many, many hours of hard work by officers who have monitored illicit activity and developed information that resulted in arrests,” said Mayor Tim Davlin. “It is comforting to know that we have taken a number of drug dealers off the street. Hopefully this will send a signal to others that we will be watching closely and taking action when appropriate.”
