Road Construction

Washington Street will be under construction west of Chatham Road/Bruns Lane starting Monday, August 10, 2009 for the reconstruct of a bridge just west of Chatham Road. One lane will be open to traffic in each direction throughout the reconstruction project. The eastbound left turn from Washington Street to Bruns Lane will be closed to traffic during construction. The bridge reconstruction is expected to last through November.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid congestion in the area.

Any particular reason this couldn't have been done during the summer when school isn't in session? Traffic will be horrific for those of us trying to get kids to school on Washington Street, not to mention all the state workers trying to get to work by 8:000 am.
