Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin and Police Chief Ralph A. Caldwell, Jr. today announced the promotion of Officer David Wesselman to the rank of Sergeant.
“His past experience within the SPD will be helpful in this new assignment,” Mayor Davlin said. “I want to congratulate him on the promotion.”
Wesselman, 46, joined the Department in April 1987. Wesselman is a graduate of Petersburg Porta High School and he attended Lincoln Land Community College. He is married and the father of two daughters. Wesselman is a member of the Hostage Negotiating Team and the Crisis Intervention Team. He is being assigned to the Third Shift in the Field Operations Division.
“His 22 years of service in the ranks of the SPD and experience he has gained in various assignments will be very helpful at the Sergeant’s rank,” said Chief Caldwell.
