Mayor Davlin applauds Salvation Army
The Salvation Army of Sangamon County today announced plans to purchase the property at 100 N. Ninth Street in Springfield. "At our current location, we are landlocked and cannot expand," said Major Paul Logan, Corps Officer. "With the larger building, we wil lbe able to house more of Springfield's homeless, including adding rooms for families which we haven ot been able to serve currently.
The building is 60,000 square feet iwth a parking lot for 225 vehicles. All the current services being offered at the corps will be moved to the Ninth Street location.
Mayor Tim Davlin joined Major Logan as he made the announcement. "We are pleased that the Salvation Army has found a suitable location to move and expand into a facility that serves more people in our community," Davlin said.
