Southern View students celebrate Arbor Day with CWLP

On Friday, April 24th, students at Southern View Elementary celebrated Arbor Day with a tree planting and dedication with representatives of the City of Springfield and City Water, Light and Power. This is CWLP’s 10th year partnering with an area school in an effort to promote the importance of trees to the environment as well as their aesthetic value. CWLP donated two dogwood trees for the school’s grounds and its tree contractor and Nelson Tree Service provided funding for educational materials.

CWLP has been designated as a Tree Line USA utility by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its ongoing efforts to protect and enhance Springfield’s urban forest while still safeguarding the reliability of the city’s electricity delivery system.
